Goa, the smallest state in the union of India displays great continuity of rich cultural roots. Heritage remains in Goa are of varied character. This lecture will focus on nature of forts and fortifications in Goa. Due to its location on western coast and vibrant historic events, forts in Goa are of unique characteristics. More than the defence, the need of regulating trade created and maintained several forts in Goa. Speaker intends to highlight such interesting aspects of forts in Goa which deserve special attention of scholars.
